Rentless

4 out of 5 rating. See my 2 minute review and demo video below 🙂

Rentless was a perfume amongst other different perfumes made by Lush for their Gorilla IV series of perfumes. Lush’s Gorilla Perfume Volume IV (or Series 4) is a highly regarded, art-driven collection co-created by Simon Constantine and Dallas-based artist Hal Samples. It explores themes like home and belonging. Standout fragrances from this series include the cozy, cocoa-and-vanilla forward “Im Home” and the rich, spicy Cardomom Coffee”, “Amelia Mae”.

Lush made a liquid spray 30ml bottle and a liquid 60ml spray bottle of Rentless persume and years later a solid version. They also made a wash card (paper soap) in the rentless scent that they sold on the Lush UK site.

The ingredients:

Patchouli oil, Labdanum, Tonka seed extract, Grapefruit oil, Anise alcohol, Citral, Coumarin, Eugenio, Farnesol, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool.

It’s a non sweet scent, but it does have a wee bit of sweetness that sits underneath the deep earthiness of labdanum and patchouli, a hint of citrus brightness from the grapefruit, a bit of licorice spice. It reminds me of an earthiness, with a bit of brightness, like steel, and a faint, ever so slightly sweet licorice spice.

Rentless (attendees report that they were told that the ‘metamorphosis’ bomb was made with this fragrance).

Lush description:

… “Never been homeless”

Tachowa embodies the spirit of “making something out of nothing”. Everything inside the home he had made inside the tank were found treasures or gifts. He used these gathered items to make his living space beautiful. He was ingenious at upcycling other people’s throwaways into art; cutting up surfboards to make shelves, using broken pieces of CD to design a mosaic that shone up on the ceiling. His home was an art piece before Banksy’s words made it so.”

Even though people have argued with me on my video comments, attendees of the Gorilla IV release event reported that they were told that the ‘metamorphosis’ bomb was made with this fragrance. When i smell it I can see that. I took a pic of those together.

The Lush Ninja bath bombs were also made with the Rentless scent.
