Temptation soap

LUSH Times, Spring 2004 description: Temptation smells like a superior sort of apple pie, fresh from the oven, spiced with a sprinkling of cinnamon and scented with a hint of orange blossom for a ‘nouvelle cuisine’ approach. Like the best sort of apple pie, we put fresh, organic apples into our Temptation soap and add a drop of uplifting myrrh essential oil. Despite its name there’s nothing sinful about it, except that it’s a bit more expensive than most of our soaps, but if we will go putting fresh apples and phenomenally expensive myrrh in it, what do you expect?

This smells less like a green apple (like their So White fragrance. This shower gel smells more like a red apple.

Lush Times 2003 description: Temptation is our apple pie soap made with fresh, organic apple juice and spicy cinnamon leaf oil. Apples contain organic acids which are good for stimulating sedentary people. Picture this, .Adam, get up off your backside and come over here.. .No, can’t be bothered.. .Here, have an apple then.. Temptation soap smells sharp, refreshing and spicy. Just wave it under someone.s nose when you want to tempt them into the shower with you.

Apples and cinnamon. Reminds me of Autumn and good apple cider. The big slab of temptation soap had slices of apples all over the top incase you get a piece with what looks like leaves…. It is! I don’t know why this was ever disconinued because it seemed to be such a popular soap.

Everyone used to post how much they loved it. I guess they had to make room for new stuff is all I can think of. I loved this soap! It smells like a real red apple. The soap had a bit more cinnamon scent than the shower gel, otherwise they smell similar.

It’s made in the same scent as this Lush ‘Apple Crumble‘ bubble bar.

The Godmother

4 out of 5 rating

As in Fairy Godmother 😊This was originally made in 2008 and discontinued around 2011 i think.
Its up for the vote for the September 2021 Lush Kitchen Subscription Box.
The previous incarnation of the Lush Kitchen remade this in 2015.

Its made with the sweet and spicy scent of Candy Fluff/Melting Marshmallow Moments.

Lush 2008 description:,Despite our Ballistics, skincare, haircare and all other wonderful things for our baths showers and bodies, people tend to call Lush “That soap shop”. This is fair, because we do make exceedingly good soaps. We looked into this (technically Pia looked into it and we were all very interested) and found that 68% of people in the UK wash their hands with washing up liquid. Thats just not right. Its not good for your hands. Stop it! Mo, our soap supreme, has made this special soap (scented with our best selling Candy Fluff scent) for keeping by the kitchen sink. Think of it as your fairy godmother for the hands.

Ingredients Water (Aqua) , Palm Free Soap Base, Propylene Glycol , Sodium Coco-Sulfate , Sodium Stearate , Perfume , Synthetic Musk , Glycerine

I like the scent of this soap. The first thing I did was to get the package and before I opened it I could smell the Candy Fluff scent that I love. It’s a fruity, pink, with purole sparkkes and a sweet pink, effervescent smelling fragrance. If you like the Candy Fluff powder, or Marshmellow Melting Moments bath melt you will love this soap.

It’s such a gorgeous color of dark rose pink and it has pink/purple shift glitter. The Godmother is not exceptionally drying to my hands nor is it moisturizing , but somewhere in the middle.
I was surprised at how low lathering this soap was. The scent stays on my hands for a goodly while. I did notice that the Godmother lather was minimwl. The Godmother didn’t leave my hands dry.

This was the whole huge truckke of soap in the stores that tgey woukd cut pieces off of for selling.

The Sicilian

Lush ‘The Sicilian’ bath bomb.
Made in the early 2000’s. Discontinued about four years later.

this is one of five products here that are up for the vote for the August 2021 Lush subscription box.

This bath bomb was always a staple for me, and probably becuase my favorite smell is the smell of fresh peeled oranges.

Its a fast fizzing bomb not a slow melting creamy one. no bath art. no glitter.

This is made with four different orange ingredients: Mandarin, Orange, Neroli, and Tangerine.
It also has marigold flower petals mixed in and an orange slice.

The reference comes from the book/movie ‘The Godfather’ which is about a mafia boss from Sicily (and one of my favorite movies). In it the director has something about oranges in every killing scene. 😊

Lush made asoap called Sunny Citrus which is in the same scent.

Lush 2005 Description: Why Sicilian? Well, we named it thus because of the organic Sicilian oranges we slice up and put inside each one and because its sunny colour and refreshing citrus scent remind us of the fruit trees in Sicily’s fertile valleys. We pack it with refreshing, uplifting orange, tangerine and mandarin oils to make us feel almost as good as if we were tootling around on a Vespa with the warm wind messing up our hairdo.

LT 2004: The Sicilian is a bath for brightening up dull days;even sunny days can appear dull when there’s nothing exciting to look forward to. If you know your’re going to spend all day in meetings, or in a room with no daylight or haivng tea with yoru dullest relative thake a Sicilian bath first. The reviving essential oils, made from Sicilian oranges, mandarins, tangerines and orange flowers will cheer you up so much you might actually find you enjoy yourself! Share citrus Sicilians with your co-workers and relatives and all your days will be summer.

Ponche shower gel

5 out of 5 (original version)

See my demo video of it below

4 out of 5 (new version)

Made as a limited edition for Christmas 2010-2011 only. And remade for the previous incarnation of the Lush Kitchen in 2014. It’s up for the vote again for the Lush Kitchen July 2021 Subscription Box

This has a nice, Christmas punch kind of scent. Having cinnamon, orange juice, Okum, buchu oil, davana oil, and petigrain oil. All very fruity notes. The original version had tequila in it (like the punch that it’s named after), but for some reason they took it out. When they did that it changed the smell. It lost its bright note, but it’s still a nice scent.

Lush made a perfume of this exclusively for one day only on the Uk website in 2014.

Lush ‘Icing on the Cake’ smoothie rhoulade had the ponche scent as well.

Ingredients: Water, Plum Infusion, Cinnamon Infusion, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, orange juice, Lauryl Betaine, Perfume, Propylene Glycol, Lactic Acid, Davana Oil, Buchu Oil, Petitgrain Oil, Tequila, Eugenol, Geranoil, *Linalool, *Limonene, Colour 15510, Methylparaben.

Lush Times: Ay! Ay! Ay! It’s Christmas! Do not fear the winter blue, dear amigos! Take a shot of this zesty tequila and lime gel in your shower for amorning fiesta, sure to wake even the sleepiest morning monsters. Ponche was invented after a member of Lush HQ traveled through Mexico and enjoyed their traditional fruity party punch. Bring on the tequila!

hHere’s a demo and review video i did of this shower gel.

Snowdrop

Initially made in 2008 by Lush UK.

See a video link below.

It’s an all white bomb with a large polished sugar crystal on top. It doesn’t make bath art and it’s a fast fizzier. No matter who reviews this bomb, the consensus is that this smells heavenly. 😊 It’s orange and mint, which is a rare combination for Lush. It’s also slightly sweet. I love the scent.

Here’s a video of it from Comfortinscents on instagram

Ingredients: 2829 Snowdrop £2.95

Large Sugar Crystals, Perfume, Iridescent, Mandarin Oil, Grapefruit Oil, Peppermint Oil, Limonene, *Linalool.

Lush Times Xmas 2008: Astonishingly refreshing, head-clearing beauty! You might be tempted by the bright colours of the other Lush Ballistics, but promise us that you won’t miss out on the new Snowdrops bath. If the big sugar crystals don’t tempt you, and the iridescent sparkles aren’t your bag please take one home ewith you all the same. Drop it in the bath and your life will change for the better. Drop it in the bath and your life will change for the better. take the head clearing, reviving citrus scents of mandarin and grapefruit, then add a genius dash of peppermint and you have the most amazing, life affirming Ballistic ever to sneak up on you and give you the slap in the face that you need (metaphorically speaking of course). Once a Snowdrops bomb has woken you up in the morning, you will need to buy more. But no! These are seasonal specials! Buy a big airtight container and stock up on as many as you can carry – that’s if we haven’t got there first and bought them all.

Lush Lime Smoothie

4 out of 5 rating

There are Lush smoothies i like more than lush lime and lush smoothies that i like less than lush lime.

Lush Lime has the same scent as the Lush ‘karo-karounde’ bath bomb.

Ingredients: fresh butternut squash infusion, glycerine, olive oil, almond oil, vegetable soap, fresh lime juice, sodium lauryl sulphate, fresh strawberry juice, grapefruit oil, karo-karounde absolute, perfume

Pokey stick of doom thickness test: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y181/l … ystick.jpg

Review: Wow. While Whitewash and Turkish Delight still wins because of the consistency, Lush Lime is my pick for one of the best smelling Lush smoothies. I couldn’t wait to hold it up to my husbands nose so he could smell how wonderful it is and at last agree with me. He said it smelled medicinal and weird. I smell limes, limes, and more wonderful limes. Sweet tangy tart fresh and the consistency is not as stiff as Lush Turkish Delight and Whitewash, it’s more of a thinner consistency like Creamed Almond and Coconut smoothie.

The pic has a spoonful of it for a thickness test of sorts. It looks exactly like Creme Fraiche. I’m so hooked on the smell though, and it leaves skin soft. How do they do it?

LT 1998 description: The fresh fruit juicy Lush Lime Smoothie gets your body squeaky clean while the oils of almond and olive smooth and relax. A true joy to use, as the scents of strawberry, grapefruit, and karo-karounde refresh you and the bathroom.

Lush Discontinued 2020!

Here’s a video i made about this.

“When the word “discon” ripples around there’s always a sharp intake of breath as people wonder if their favourite will have its fate sealed. We all have our hero products and stories of heartbreak when something treasured has slipped out of production.

As we look towards a future, lockdown presented an opportunity for Mark Constantine to reflect on the present and try every product again and again to get a better understanding of what we are offering. Backed by The Secret Masterplan there were clear criteria:

  • Does it serve customer’s needs?
  • Is it number one in its category?
  • Is it part of a cosmetic revolution?

12 weeks, 116 days and a lot of 4pm baths later a clear idea was forming, and with review from Lush analysts, there is a list.

There are bound to be some disappointments but far many more opportunities as we make room to create things that are best in their class – fewer products, that give you better results.

We have a dedicated team of product inventors bursting with ideas that will knock your socks off. For sneak peeks and all the BTS action of what’s to come (make sure you check out our inventor’s social media profiles) and check out #lushcommunity. “

It will take a while before these are all gone, but as always at Lush nothing is often gone forever. The newly launched Kitchen subscription box is not only a monthly delivery of retro favourites and some surprises, but also offers subscribers a chance to vote on the contents, so maybe your favourite will be back sooner than expected

Dreamwash smoothie

3 out of 5 rating

Its in the same ecent family as ‘In The Nude’ bath melt and ‘Fresh Farmacy’ facial wash.

Website: Soothing shower soap to calm red, dry skin. Dreamwash is like Fresh Farmacy combined with Dream Cream to make the perfect Smoothie for troubled skin. Dreamwash is incredibly mild and actively soothing – wonderful for skin which has a habit of going flaky and red when you touch it with anything but plain water. We mix chamomile with calamine, calming aloe vera and rose, tea tree, lavender essential oils. It works very well, if we say it ourselves.

This is my least favorite smoothie that Lush makes only because of the somewhat medicinal scent. I dont have particularly sensitive skin, but for those that do this smoothie is a godsend.

Its made with skin soothing ingredients.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Calamine Powder, Organic Aloe Vera Gel (Aloe barbadensis), Water (Aqua), Rapeseed Oil; Sunflower Oil; Coconut Oil (Brassica napus; Helianthus annuus; Cocos nucifera), Glycerine, Sodium Stearate, Sodium Hydroxide, Rose Absolute (Rosa damascena), Chamomile Oil (Anthemis nobilis), Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia), Lavender Oil (Lavandula augustifolia), Sodium Chloride, *Linalool, Perfume

Freeze

4 out of 5 rating

Heres a pic below i took of the one i used in 2004

Vegan 8.4oz

Ingredients: Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Fresh Spring Water (Aqua), Fresh Scottish Sea Water (Aqua), Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Aloe Vera Gel (Aloe barbadensis), Sea Salt (Sodium chloride), Perfume, Peppermint Oil (Mentha piperita), Bergamot Oil (Citrus bergamia), Orange Oil (Citrus dulcis), Colour 42045, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.

Review: Woo! That’s the way it feels. Powerfully minty with a teeny weeny bit of citrus. Its kind of a sweet mint, more sweet than ‘Dirty’ not as herbally as ‘Dirty’. It’s fabulous in the morning or when it’s hot and muggy outside. Oh and ladies, some (not everyone) find it uncomfortable for sensitive areas.

Lush 2005 Description: Peppermint has this amazing quality of making your feel cool when you’re hot and warm when you’re cold. When you’re in a warm shower and you put a dollop of Freeze Shower Gel on your body it gives you a refreshing, tingly feeling all over. Peppermint has been used for thousands of years to help the skin stay soft and the mind stay focused. One view is that it was named ‘mente’ meaning thought because it is said to help concentration and inspiration. If you lack either of these, try making Freeze your morning shower gel and shampoo of choice.

Creamed Almond & Coconut Smoothie

3.5 out of 5.0 rating

Ingredients: Vanilla Pod Infusion (Vanilla planifolia), Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis), Glycerine, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera), Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Vanilla Extract (Vanilla planifolia), Ylang Ylang Oil (Cananga odorata), Jasmine Absolute (Jasminum officinale), Labdanum Resinoid (Cistus labdanum), Sodium Chloride, EDTA, Tetrasodium Editronate, Perfume, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

Lush Times 2005 description: The Creamed Almond and Coconut Smoothie Shower Soap is more of a mousse in texture than a cream, if you want to get technical about it. Dip your fingers into the pot and scoop it out and it sits there, scented with sensual jasmine, calming ylang ylang and gentle vanilla, waiting to be applied to your body to clean it, moisturize it with almond and coconut oils and perfume it with the all of the above plus deep, divinely scented labdanum. After washing, don’t waste it, wear something revealing.

Size: 8.8 oz.

Review: This is subtley nice. It’s a mellow scent like King of Skin or Sympathy for Skin, it’s lighter and thinner than the other smoothies but the smells is creamy and nice, and it feels nice. Its more almond-y than coconut-y.

I absolutely LOVE the Lush smoothies. They just might be my favorite alternative to soap product. Theyre so easy to use. And tgey feel WONDERFUL. Other Lush smoothies, like Scrumptious, whitewash, lime, are my favorites before almond coconut one though.

I like it and would use it but i wouldnt buy another one, Whereas i would buy the other Lush smoothies again.

They should not use “coconut” in the name because it’s really all about almond. I understand that coconut is part of the ingredient but common reflex is to think that the name is somehow related to the scent but here that’s not the case. I think it smells more like the nutts massage bar. Texture is creamy nice though. Easy to use an apply.

Needles and Pines jelly

5 out of 5 rating

A lovely fresh pine and citrus scent.

This is such a lovely, calming green scent. Lush doesnt seem to create any new green/natural scents anymore, but this is an exception.

it’s beautifully green and fresh with pine and cypress.

I love anything and everything with cypress in it. Alot of my favorite green lush scents have cypress. In Needles and Pines the cypress keeps the whole fragrance from being TOO pine-y if that makes sense.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y181/lush-a-lot/lush-a-lot001/needlesandpine_zpseezqbjtb.jpg

The three different Lush products in my photo below were made in the same scent as needles and pines.

Rough With The Smooth

Lord Of Misrule scent

4 out of 5 rating – see my demo video below

Lush ‘Rough with the Smooth’ body butter scrub.

This was made in 2014, sold in stores in the UK and US and online, and was discontinued in 2017 or so.

It was voted for and remade again June 2021 for the Lush UK subscription box. It’s a square of solid cocoa butter with sugar for exfoliation. It was made with the Lush ‘Lord of Misrule’ scent which is made with vanilla, black pepper and patchouli.

.

I liked it.

You use it in the shower after soaping up and rinsing off. Then you just rinse off with warm water.

If you’ve tried this-did you like it? Or not so much?

I voted for this, mostly because i love the scent of LOM.

I added a couple of my Lord of Misrule scent family pictures

Here’s a video i made of how to use this and what it’s like 😉
