Lush Discontinued 2020!

Here’s a video i made about this.

“When the word “discon” ripples around there’s always a sharp intake of breath as people wonder if their favourite will have its fate sealed. We all have our hero products and stories of heartbreak when something treasured has slipped out of production.

As we look towards a future, lockdown presented an opportunity for Mark Constantine to reflect on the present and try every product again and again to get a better understanding of what we are offering. Backed by The Secret Masterplan there were clear criteria:

  • Does it serve customer’s needs?
  • Is it number one in its category?
  • Is it part of a cosmetic revolution?

12 weeks, 116 days and a lot of 4pm baths later a clear idea was forming, and with review from Lush analysts, there is a list.

There are bound to be some disappointments but far many more opportunities as we make room to create things that are best in their class – fewer products, that give you better results.

We have a dedicated team of product inventors bursting with ideas that will knock your socks off. For sneak peeks and all the BTS action of what’s to come (make sure you check out our inventor’s social media profiles) and check out #lushcommunity. “

It will take a while before these are all gone, but as always at Lush nothing is often gone forever. The newly launched Kitchen subscription box is not only a monthly delivery of retro favourites and some surprises, but also offers subscribers a chance to vote on the contents, so maybe your favourite will be back sooner than expected

5 out of 5 rating – See my tub demo / review video of it below. Gorgeous sparkle!

Not only am I a Beatles freak, but I like Coconut.

That smell is SO yummy. Like a coconut cream pie or pink colada.

Below is a pic i took of Three (at the time) exclusive bath bombs from the Lush creative showcase.

This makes sense Such a gorgeous show in the tub!

I wish I had ten of these.

Yellow Submarine is one of those slow melting, creamy, multi-colored bath art bath bombs.

It has the colors yellow and pink.

Below are some ‘bath cocktails’ that i came up with. So the Happy Yellow Rabbit has coconut, pineapple (from the YS bomb) and Orange oil (from the Down the Rabbit Hole bubble bar and ‘Happy Talk’ bath oil.

Below is a bath cocktail i made called ‘Green Submarine’, made with Lush Yellow Submarine and Lush Green Coconut bath bomb.

Heres a bath cocktail i made with an Intergalactic bath bomb.

Below is my scent family photo showing the products Lush has made with the same scent.

Phoenix Rising

I actually got to see how the Lush Ltd factory in England make phoenix Rising, and i recorded it.

And I made a short video of it in the tub at the bottom of this page.

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Icing Sugar, Cocoa Butter, PEG-6 Caprylic / Capric Glycerides, Bergamot Oil, Cassia Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Fair Trade Shea Butter, *Cinnamal, *Citral, *Limonene, *Linalool, Colour 45410, Colour 42090, Colour 77891, Colour 77510, Frosty Holly Lustre, Gold Lustre,Cinnamon sticks

Lush Times: All the myth and magic of a phoenix, pressed into one bathtime experience, which lets you arise at the end feeling refreshed and ready for the next 500 years. Your phoenix will sink to the bottom then rise in triumph, her mythical sparkling purple and green plumage unfurling through your bath water. She’ll release gentle shea butter, cocoa butter and jojoba oil to leave your skin feather-soft. Exotic essential oils of fruit and spices take your mind on a flight of fancy to distant shores where you are lying on a beach drinking spiced rum.Actually, you won’t want to rise again from this bath – you’ll want to just stay on in there gliding on the dream! The phoenix is often quoted as using cinnamon sticks to make her nest. So we’ve topped this ballistic with some, so she has some handy nesting material, should she wish to stick around at yours for a while. Meanwhile, it will also add to the delicate spiciness of your bath.

Lush description: The work on this website had been going on in the background at Lush for quite some time. Having a current website trading plus a new one that is being built made for very confusing conversations when talking about things for ‘the website’. To end the confusion, we gave the website under construction the name Phoenix. So Phoenix has been very much on everyone’s mind here at Lush; not least Jack, who has been working on it for over a year. When he went into the lab to invent new ballistics, he couldn’t shake his mind free of it – and thus we now have a Phoenix Rising ballistic!

Smells like spicy apples and cinnamon.
This is what it looks like up close in the tub

And this is how the factory makes the phoenix bath bomb

Spacegirl

See my tub demo video below

file-sep-29-12-05-03-pm

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Perfume, Grapefruit Oil, Bergamot Oil , Almond Oil, Propylene Glycol, Colour 15510, Mulit-Coloured Glitter (Polyethylene terephthalate), Fizzy Candy.

Lush Times: Here comes a ballistic of astronomical proportions. We were inspired by The Imagined Village’s intriguing interpretation from their second album, Empire & Love. It’s shaped like Saturn with added space dust for our alien friends, and the refreshing scent of blackcurrant sweeties will make you hungry for your own space adventures. Space Girl is stellar, just remember your blaster and your freezer gun.

The Space Girl bath bomb smells so fruity and slightly sweet.

Lush made six other products later in the same scent: the Goth Fairy Massage bar, The Dinosaur Egg bath bomb, Very Very Frightening shower gel, I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas, Space Girl, and the 2020 Star bubble bar.

As it fizzes it makes a red and purple water, and it has a pretty light blue glitter in the water.

it also leaves a red comet effect on the bottom of the tub which is awesome.

Flosty Gritter

This bubble bar stands out to me as one i would take on a desert island.  See my 3 minute video of it in the tub, it will BLOW your mind. Color, scent, this one has it all.

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar (Tartaric acid), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Perfume, Cocamide DEA, Vanilla Absolute (Vanilla planifolia), Clary Sage Oil (Salvia sclarea), Lavender Oil (Lavandula hybrida), Benzoin Resinoid (Styrax benzoin), *Linalool, Colour 45410, Colour 17200, Pink Glitter (Polyethylene terephthalate and Acrylates copolymer).

Lush Description: Sexy vanilla & soothing lavender bubbles with a swirl of pink flosty gritter (as spelled by Noriko).

Review: This is a lovely shade of bright pink. It has pinkish/purple glitter, but not too much. Mine was so soft and squishy and the vanilla milkshake scent of “American Cream” hair conditioner wafted up all around me in the tub. It’s funny how a scent can become better or worse to me depending on what the delivery mechanism of that scent is; bubble bar, soap, hair conditioner, etc. The American Cream scent of Clary sage, vanilla and lavender is so scrummy in bubble bar form. I was struck at how strong the scent was and that people would probably like this bubble bar alot. Flosty is sweet, foody, fresh, herbal, blended in such a wonderful way. And that fact that the bubble bar is covered in fushia glitter doesn’t hurt it’s ratings in my book. I didn’t think Flosty Gritter was going to impress me as much as it did. I also think that this is going to be a huge hit with the majority of Lush buyers. I’m not completly headover heels about the sage that’s in the American Cream scent, that’s the only reason I’m in the minority when I give this a 3. I’m surrounded by sage where I live and it grows wild in our yards. It’s a beautiful plant but the scent of sage isn’t one of my favorite smells.
