Butterball

LushButterballres

Lush Description: Let’s make this clear now; it doesn’t have your usual kind of butter in it, the kind of butter that comes from cows. It does have cocoa butter, made from the roasted seeds of the cocoa bean, to condition and soften your skin to make it gloriously smooth to the touch. As the Butterball fizzes into oblivion, the bathroom is scented with ylang ylang with a touch of (synthetic*) musk and a hint of chocolate from the tiny shavings of cocoa butter that melt in the water’s warmth. Your whole body will be moisturised and perfumed so beautifully that you won’t want to put your clothes back on. Use Butterball just before bedtime or whenever you’re going to wear something that reveals an expanse of bare skin.

*Synthetic because we think that civet cats’ scent glands should be used for the benefit of other civet cats not human beings.

A butterball and a bear shaped butter ball

£1.80 95gs

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Synthetic Musk, Ylang Ylang Oil (Cananga odorata), Perfume.

I became addicted to this smell the very first time I sniffed a Butterball in my first Lush order ever, a package from the UK. This was the first ballistic I bought from Lush actually. It’s such an absolutely yummy smell that I’m just addicted to. Like buttery vanilla custard. Very moisturizing. You have to use it with hot water (as hot as you can stand) to melt the cocoa butter so it doesn’t form little globs in the bath. My favorite thing is to have one or two Butterball’s and a Floating Island melt. It’s like a buttery marshmellow or something. Ohh.  I have a shower gel from Lush called Butterball shower gel at this link

In the pictures ive taken below are other products made with the buttetball scent, except the soap, which i cant find the picture i took of it.

I once bought six shower gels, and i don’t referent it one bit. 😄

In my opinion the best Butterball product is the perfume oil. It’s more concentrated in scent because there no alcohol in it like there is in a perfume spray or body spray, just pure concentrated buttery ylang ylang cocoa fragrance.

Bunny I Washed the Kids

A limited edition ballistic for Easter 2005.

I love the toffee-like scent of Honey I washed the Kids in the ballistic.  It’s like Honey Bee but in a super cute Bunny form for Easter 🙂

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Perfume, Aloe Vera Extract (Aloe barbadensis), Sweet Orange Oil (Citrus dulcis), Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides), Bergamot Oil (Citrus bergamia), *Limonene, *Linalool, Benzyl Benzoate

Review: Lush made these limted edtion bath bombs for Easter 2006 in their  classic”Honey I Washed the Kids” fragrance.  They’ve never made these again, though i think everyone would love these cuties.  I love the toffee-like scent of Honey I washed the Kids in the ballistic, even more than the soap.

Bridal Bouquet

shBridalBouquetDuckiewatermark-vi

180g/6.3oz

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Perfume, Sweet Orange Oil (Citrus Dulcis), Lime Oil (Citrus aurantifolia), Cognac Oil, Paper Confetti.

Lush Times 2003 description: We like to celebrate. We do it at every possible opportunity. In fact, every morning is a micro celebration of sorts when we award ourselves a Ballistic for having managed to get out of bed in one piece. Mo’s beautiful new Bridal Bouquet Ballistic celebrates weddings. It has one of our best celebratory scents too: throw it in the bath and it will waft the fragrance of Buck’s fizz with a dash of cognac, which will put you in a part mood even if you weren’t so sure before you started. The Bridal Bouquet is made to celebrate weddings*. It could be an engagement, a hen party, the big day itself or fifty years later. Bathe in the scent of celebration and make bathing more of an occasion. (*Incidentally, we are a very inclusive organisation and we would not dream of stopping teh resolutely single, separated, divorced or widowed or not-the-slightest-bit-interested members of the public from enjoying the Bridal Bouquet should they wish.)[/quote]

This Smells like fizzy orange soda. It’s not an elegant and rounded orange like “Happy for Sad” or “The Sicilian” but sparkly, festive and bright. I think this one went really well with the citrussy orange “Happy” bubble bar. Later Lush used this scent and made the “Christmas Party” ballistic.

Brandy Butter

LushBrandyButters-vi

See my video of Brandy Butter below. Mmm…Yummy. It’s spicy and smells like something Christmasy that you would eat or drink, like a spicy eggnog or something. This one is a great one for combining too. The cinnamony “Christmas Cracker” BBS, “Psychodelic” BBS, go well with it.

Ingredients: sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, cocoa butter, brandy butter, cinnamon leaf oil, tangerine oil, brandy, pink sparkles, perfume

From the 2002 Yuletide Lush Times description: Here’s a gorgeous new ballistic which smells of brandy, cinnamon, and tangerines. Wouldn’t you like to find one of these in the toe of your Christmas stocking! It has huge chunks of brandy flavoured cocoa butter (not butter from cows so it’s still vegan) which melt and moisturize your skin with a fragrance which all after dinner tipplers will find irresistible. For an outrageous Christmas bath cocktail throw in a Lush Pud first then add a Brandy Butter on top. Delicious!

Bon Bomb

4 out of 5

if it was a regular sized bomb i would give it a 5.

I made a Tub Demo of this below.

LushBonBomb2008

LushBonBombduo2

Here’s a video I made of the bon Bomb in the tub

Vegan $3.30 3.3oz

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Shea Butter, Perfume, Mango Butter,  Avocado Butter, Lime Oil, Sweet Orange Oil, Gardenia Extract

This is a smaller bomb. I like the smell and was afraid I wouldn’t. I feared it would have that “Lemon Pledge” lemon smell but instead it’s very yummy lemon/lime sherbet smelling. It is pretty moisturizing too. Be careful this has so much coco butter that the tub can become slippery. Also this needs hot water instead of lukewarm so the coco butter melts fully and doesn’t form little globs in the water. I think this may become a staple bath bomb for me.

Bon Bomb needs to be bigger.

Note: The rare Lush “Fanfare” ballistic was the Bon Bomb scent, bigger size, and no cocoa butter. i absolutely loved this one.

Lush Times 2005 description: Fans of the Butterball will be enchanted by its new little friend, the Bon Bomb, so named because Shona, who manages our Brighton shop announced that it had a ‘bon bon cream soda sort of scent’. It’s very fruity with a charmingly sweet, spicy flavour to it, rather like a posh perfume. Bathe with a Bon Bomb and your skin will smell very superior. It will also feel fabulous as we’ve pressed a mass of natural butters into each one; tiny pieces of mango butter, shea butter and organic avacado butter float around the bath until they meet your body, at which point they transform you into a softer, smoother, more mosturized person.

Bon Bain Bonnard (Lush Kitchen)

Review: A very pretty ballistic, it’s white with pastel pink, blue and yellow soap confetti and yellow, pink, blue salt crystals in the outter middle of it. It’s powdery and floral and slightly perfumey. The smell is similar to “Sakura” ballistic but with a strange undertone to my nose that keeps this from being stellar to me. Bon Bain Bonnard was fairly popular. The other three “Artist” ballistics that Lush has made are “Monet’s Garden” and “Kiss Me Klimt” and “Still Life“.

Ingredients: Bicarb, Citric Acid, Coarse Atlantic Sea Salt, Rose Oil, Perfume, Orange Oil, Crocin, Colorform Turquoise, Colorform Crimson.

Lush Times 2002 description: This is the Artistic Bath Bomb, named after Bonnard, influenced by his paintings of the nudes in the bath and inspired by his work ‘White Interior’. Arguably one of the best smelling bath bombs. The sea salt will make your body feel new, and the orange blossoms will do the same for your mind. A bomb for everyone in search of inspiration.

Bom Perignon

lushbomperignonkitchenblog

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Tangerine Oil (Citrus reticulata), Grapefruit Oil (Citrus grandis), Perfume, Colour Solution 18050.

The perfume was made 25 years later in December 2025 for the Lush Kitchen Monthly Subscription Box. Tangerine and Grapefruit. It’s not too sweet, but very nice Tangerine scent. Citrussy but not in a lemon lime way-in an orangey way.

Lush 1999 description: This is the ideal present for everyone who is celebrating but not drinking for reasons of health, religion, calorie counting, age or having gone a bit too far last time you celebrated and not wanting to do it again for while (Nathan? Are you reading this?) Each Bom Perignon contains two reviving tangerine and grapefruit Ballistics;throw one in the bath whenever you feel like celebrating (or when you’ve celebrated a bit too much the previous night).

This is cute. Shaped like a bottle with a flat back.  The scent is what i would’ve liked Champagne Snow Showers/Celebrate to smell like.  It’s more fruity.  It’s a fast fizzer.  Doesn’t turn the water any particular color.  The scent is a strong, slightly sweet grapefruit.  The green foil covering was only available back in 1999 because it was sold as a gift.

Bollywood

Lushbollywoodwtr-vi

Review: Do you know how long it’s been since Lush has made something that I absolutely love as much as my favorite discontinued items? It smells similar to my Lush love…Psychodelic BBS. Unfortunately I was the only one who thought so, this ballistic went bye bye as quick as it got here. *sigh* It’s orangey and spicey. It’s spicey too but not overwhelmingly so, not like in Skinny Dip. It smells like the subtle spices in Psychodelic; cardomom, cinnamon, clove. It even has what looks like a gum drop in the middle of the outside (Bindi) that is edible.

Ingredients: 200g £2.10Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Creamed Coconut Powder (Cocos nucifera), Orange Oil (Citrus dulcis), Ginger Oil (Zingiber officinalis), Black Pepper Oil (Piper nigrum), Perfume, Paprika Oleoresin (Capsicum frutescens), Kaffir Lime Leaf, Jelly.

Lush Times 2006 description: Our spicy new Ballistic is hot in more ways than one. Its soft orange colour is spiced up with a jelly jewel ‘bindi’ which it wears on its forehead – or where we like to image a Ballistics forehead would be. Its orange scent is spiced up with ginger and black pepper essential oils. Orange revives you when you’re feeling bored and tired; ginger warms you up and gives you a feeling of well-being. Black pepper, The Black Gold of India, The King of Spices, was widely prized throughout the ancient world; as an essential oil it is said to be energising, to help tone your muscles, reduce muscle stiffness and aches, detoxify and get rid of eccess fat – rather like an evening of dancing to bhangra.

Notes: A Psychodelic bubble bar and Bollywood ballistic = Heaven.

Big Big Blue

lushBigBigBlue-vi

Lush Times: Be aware that a Big Big Blue gives you the full Pacific Ocean experience, complete with strands of mineral rich seaweed (but stopping short of the actual fish). Don’t drop it in unless you want a tidal wave too. This bright blue Ballistic, with its crust of stimulating sea salt gives you a deep turquoise bath that refreshes your mind and body almost as much as a holiday by the warm ocean. Big Big Blue is a lot cheaper, there’s no jet lag and you don’t have to eat aeroplane food.

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Coarse Sea Salt, Perfume, Arame Seaweed (Eisenia arborea), Lemon Oil (Citrus limonum), Lavender Oil (Lavandula augustifolia), Seaweed Absolute (Fucus vesiculosus), *Eugenol, *Geraniol, *Limonene, *Linalool, Colour 42045 * Occurs naturally in Essential Oils

In Schuette’s photo above, this is the Big Big Blue next to a regular size Lush bath bal;listic, for comparison.

Bathpourri

LushBathPourriwatermark1-vi

Lush 1999 UK description: Drop a flower garden in your tub.

Ingredients: Marigold, Chamomile, Amaranth petals and Geranium oil.

Review: This is a floral scented ballistic with lots of amaranth flower petals. It’s floral but it’s a bright lightly sweet floral. The Chamomile lends it’s brightness to it so that the floral isn’t too floral, more of a fresh Spring floral scent. I would use this again.

Bathosphere

lushbathosphere1This was the first product that Lush had made with the “Bathos” fragrance.  Violet and clove.  A Green ballistic   Years later Lush made a green liquid “Bathos” bubble bath. A couple of years later Lush made the purple bubble bar called “Bathos”.

No picture but Bathospere was a green ballistic.

VEGAN: 1998 This was a Lush ballistic that was made because of a user contest in which each person submitted a “colour therapy” ballistic idea. Bathosphere won, so did “Waving Not Drowning“, and “Feel Good in the Southern Hemisphere”

AvoJas

LushAvoJaswatermark-vi

Description: 2005 AvoJas is an “Oops” ballistic made by lush. It’s one of those wonderful “mistakes” that rarely occurs at the lush factory in the mixing room. When it does happen the mix up usually smells lovely. This “AvoJas” Oops mistake ballistic is no exception to that rule. It’s a mix up of lemony-lime Avobath ballistic, and the sexy, smokey jasmine floral “All That Jasmine” ballistic. They smell wonderful together, who knew? A Lush NA employee who no longer works for Lush gave me this before she moved away to a different country and was packing her things and found this in a box. Thank you you wherever you might be.

Avo Big Bath

Lush Description: The Avobath is one of those ballistics which gets evening people going in the morning, when they would much rather be asleep, so imagine the effect a HUGE one will have. This is an amazingly refreshing Ballistic that smells of stimulating lemongrass. Take a good sniff before you throw it into the bath to revive a sleepy brain. If you absolutely have to get up early and still function as a normal human being, then you need an Avobath a day.

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Fresh Organic Avocado (Persea gratissima), Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Olea europaea), Lemongrass Oil (Cymbopogon schoenanthus), Bergamot Oil (Citrus Aurantium bergamia), Rosewood Oil (Aniba rosaeodora), *Citral, *Geraniol, *Farnesol, *Limonene, *Linalool, Perfume, Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides), Green Glitter (Lustre holly sparkle).lushavobigbath

All That Jas

3 out of 5

2006 LT description: All That Jasmine is a shamelessly sexy bath bomb disguised as an innocuous pastel green colored ball with an innocent, little sugar flower on top but once it hits the water it starts to work its wicked ways.

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Perfume, Styrax Resinoid (Storax), Vetivert Oil (Vetiveria zizanoides), Candy Flowers, Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides), FD&C Blue No. 1, Jasmine Oil (Jasminum officinale), Vanillin.

Review: Only available in Lush North America, the UK Lush Kitchen remade this for one day only.  I always loved this one as it has lovely jasmine, but with the additional of vanilla.  Historically there was’t any jasmine blends with anything other than vetivert, so the vanilla is a lovely smooth companion for the jasmine in this bomb.  While All That Jas has no glitter as in Lush’s other Jasmine ballistic “Fairy Jasmine“, it has a gorgeous green color that you can’t find in any other Lush bath ballistic.

Here’s a short video i made for you to see what it looks like the bath. Be advised, the video has it twice, so you only have to watch half of the video.

Ingredients: Vetivert Oil, Candy Flowers, Gardenia Extract, Jasmine Oil, Vanillin.

Abombinaball bath bomb

5 out of 5 rating

mint, vanilla and orange

See my demo video below of the gorgeous glitter Abombinaball bath bomb makes in the tub.

A play on the words ‘Abominable Snowman’.

A-Bomb-In-A-Ball. 😊

5 out of 5 rating.

Originally made for one year as a limited edition to the public in store and online for Christmas 2010.

Remade in the previous incarnation of the Lush Kitchen in 2016, in a gift set. I have a pic of the gift set attached here.

It’s SO cute, and it has beautiful blue glittery shimmer coating on the outside.

It has its own scent, And it smells yummy of Vanilla, Mint and Orange.

Normally the few couple of times Lush made this bomb it’s been a slow, melty fizzer, but the last time it was voted on for the Lush Kitchen Subscription Box it wasn’t melty, it was more of a ‘gone too quick’ kind of fast fizzer. Yeah, No.

The water turns a gorgeous deep aqua blue with white shimmer glitter.

Lush Uk made an exclusive Abombinaball jelly in the second @lushkitchen Subscription Box in 2021. LOVE it.

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Peppermint Oil,Vanilla Absolute, Sweet Orange Oil, Cream of Tartar, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamide DEA,Lauryl Betaine, Propylene Glycol, Perfume,*Limonene, *Linalool,Titanium Dioxide, Colour 42090, Colour 45350,Glacier Blue Lustre

Lush Times Magazine description: Our big, shy snow monster ballistic, with a scent of peppermint oil, vanilla absolute and orange oil. Abombinaball snowmen are rare and exotic ballistics. They don’t hang around for long, so snap one up whilst you can. Our little icy friend will come out to play any time you choose to have a bath.

Review:  I love Abombinaball.  It’s a creamy vanilla mint fragrance.  It’s comforting, not too bracingly minty, but a touch of mint, making it more ‘yum’ than ‘pow!’  He gets additional praise from me just for being so cute.  As you all know, i’m a sucker for special shaped bath bath bombs from Lush.  The water is a gorgeous blue green.  As it melts the bit of yellow mixes with the blue, and the sparkles are gorgeous!

Here’s a video i made of the Abombinaball in the tub, showing the sparkly little guy in the tub. 😊

He’ll erupt in your bathwater first in a burst of golden yellow that leaves your bathwater an electric green.  He then evades capture as he goes around your bath fizzing and giving off puffs of fine white foam.  Just when you think you’ve worked out what he is and where he’s coming from, he suddenly lets off jets of blue slipstream and makes haste across your bath, suddenly disappearing from wherever it was he came.  Leaving you soaking in a delicately scented, alpine green bath and wishing and hoping that you get to see him again one day soon. Capture yourself a few before they vanish again.
