Shimmy Shimmy was a regular season long store item in 2002. In my photos below the price listed is the old price from many years ago.

Shimmy Shimmy was the originating scent family product from which all the American Cream products came from. vanilla, sage, and lavender. I wrote about this in 2002. 😊

At the time Lush had three or four of these little glittery kinds of massage bars, including the glitter bugs, and one or two others.

I bought Shimmy Shimmy massage bar in 2002. I loved the scent and the light iridescence of it when wearing it on the skin.

There is a new Shimmy Shimmy lip jelly product in 2026, in the Lush ‘Tricks’ range of products. I like it!

I took this Shimmy Shimmy/American Cream scent family many, many years ago to let people know which items had the same scent, incase they liked or didn’t like the scent and were thinking of buying one of these products not knowing they had the same scent.

This self-preserving product is formulated to stay fresh and effective without added synthetic preservatives.

How to use: Warm in your hands before applying the bar directly onto dry skin. Once you have your desired amount on the skin, use your hands to massage with the oils and butters.

How to store: Store somewhere cool and dry between uses.

Melt Warning: This product was made to melt on contact with skin which means it also melts easily in warmer weather. We recommend picking it up in-store rather than having it delivered.

Around 2017 Lush introduced their ‘naked’ (solid/packageless) line of existing products. So in my below pic i have regular liquid American Cream shower gel and a naked or Solid American Cream shower gel. I like using each of them. Next to them are the American Pie body conditioner and the naked version sitting on top of it.

Magical vanilla bubbles

Once upon a time, there was a mischevious fairy called Silver Wing who lived in a magical land. During the summer, the fairies dance and play freely wherever they want but in the winter, they have to return to their own land and stay there until the spring, for Jack Frost rules over winter and if they’re caught by him there will surely be trouble. One day, Silver Wing became curious and wanted to see what the world looked like in winter. She convinced her friends to venture out and they delighted in seeing the first snow. They frolicked for hours and finally fell asleep beneath a toadstool. When they awoke, Jack Frost stood before them and, as punishment for breaking the rules, he turned them into flowers. After some time, he let the fairies go, on the condition that they returned every February as flowers with green stems and drooping white petals. And this is how snowdrops came to be.

Feel the chemistry of vanilla bubbles

When you’re looking for the formula to a bath reminiscent of milkshakes and rollerskates, lie back in a blanket of vanilla absolute and strawberry bubbles. This American Cream scented flask will cause a sweet reaction in the bathroom, it’s an experiment worth repeating.

You’ll love this if you like:

– Sweet vanilla absolute and soothing benzoin resinoid

– The American Cream product family or Shimmy Shimmy shimmer bar. – The science of creating a perfect bath.

Benefits:

– Benzoin resinoid creates a protective layer on the skin which prevents it from losing moisture. It is also antiseptic, can ease aching muscles and give skin a sweet, lingering aroma similar to vanilla.

– Clary Sage oil is full of antioxidants and can help ease aching muscles

– Lavender oil has soothing and balancing qualities on your skin as well as aiding restful sleep.

– This flask needs no plastic (or glass) to contain its contents.

How to use: Turn on H2O taps, hold this flask by its wax top and let the water flow over it. There’s nothing clinical about this reaction. Observe the water turn pink as bubbles are created. When the desired results are achieved, remove the flask and climb in.

How to store: Place on a dish (soap or petri) to dry and use again for repeat experiments. Keep in a cool, dry place until you begin your research.

oddly i enjoyed washing with the naked version below a bit more.

American Cream is a vanilla based scent which also has clary sage, and lavender as its scent components.  The hair conditioner added strawberry.  The other American Cream products have strawberry in them…but….American Cream products do not smell like strawberry.  It’s made with strawberry, it’s not strawberry scented.

This bottle bow was made again years later in July 2024.

I like to make that clear, so that people won’t spend their hard earned money on something that they think will be strawberry scented, only to be disappointed when it’s not.

American Pie body conditioner

I love that Lush made a body conditioner from one of its popular hair conditioner (American Cream) fragrance. And i like that they named it American Pie like the exclusive shower jelly from a couple of years back from lush.co.uk

Here is the regular and solid American Pie conditioner from 2014

The fragrance of it is akin to a vanilla milkshake. In fact the hair conditioner which started this all was made to mimic an American cocktail which tastes like a vanilla milkshake.

Lush has made more than a dozen different products in this same blend of vanilla, lavender, clary sage and strawberry juice.

Think of this as a hair conditioner for the body. In my demo video i show how to apply it and how to rinse it off.

This works well for me. I live in the desert southwest and my skin is VERY dry and this works really well at moisturizing without feeling greasy or oily.

Perfume

I bought two bottles of American Cream perfume.

Lush said it was named after a cocktail.

Inclusion is the latest product for 2026 in the American Cream scent, and the fifth different bath bomb that lush has made in this scent.

American Cream is a vanilla based scent which also has clary sage, and lavender as its scent components.  The hair conditioner added strawberry.  The other American Cream products have strawberry in them…but….American Cream products do not smell like strawberry.  It’s made with strawberry, it’s not strawberry scented. And in the perfumery industry there IS a difference between those two sentences. I like to make that clear, so that people won’t spend their hard earned money on something that they think will be strawberry scented, only to be disappointed when it’s not.

And rest assured Lush doesn’t claim the American cream scent smells like strawberry either.  I know because I’ve talked the the owner of lush about this very thing.

Now, onto what it DOES smell like, to most people, including myself.  It smells like creamy vanilla, with a light whiff of herbal clary sage and a pinch of herb-y lavender. I like it.

I’d give it a 3 1/2 out of 5 rating.

Lush has opened up a new store in the Harajuku area of Japan. At this new, special store Lush will sell 35-50 exclusive bath bombs. One of these exclusive Japan Harajuku store bombs is Marshmallow World.

Its made with the popular scent of a Lush hair conditioner called ‘American Cream’, which is an herbal vanilla blend.

It’s made with strawberries for their skin properties , not for the primary scent. The scent is sage-which is a bitter herb-and vanilla, and we all know what vanilla smells like. So put bitter herbs and vanilla together with a bit of lavender, which is even more of an herbally flower, and you have the American Cream scent.

I like to stress this fact that it doesn’t exactly smell like strawberry because i always see disappointed people writing lush comments like ‘but it doesnt smell like strawberries like some of your other strawberry scented things’.

Now, what this bomb looks like. 😍

Marshmallow World is such a pretty bomb on the outside, with lovely pink and having purple and yellow striations. It pooks like an unfamilair but fun planet.

It fizzes and makes a baby pink foam and turns the water a light pink color. This bomb must have somethung special in it which is softening to the skin. It feels moisturizing a bit.

What a beautiful scent. While American Cream scent isn’t my favorite, i don’t hate it either by any means. Its a calming scent to me. I think its quite a meditative scent..with a teaspoon of yumminess thrown in.

Lush has made three other bath bombs in the past years with the American Cream scent with different names. But i must say this is the prettiest version.

It doesnt make full-on bath art per se, but it is still beautiful as it fizzes in the tub.

I would stock up on these like i did with some of the other community favorites/Japan store bombs like ‘Tender is the Night’, ‘The Comforter’, ‘Melusine’, and ‘Golden Pear’.
