Skinny Dip

6 out of 5 lol

It’s a very thin gel which you have to shake up. I put mine in the fridge so when shaken it gets thicker. I love it.I have to admit to needing to have it around at all times. I love spicy/foody smells and Skinny Dip is THE spicy and softening shower gel/bath foam I’ve tried to date from Lush. This gel was rabidly popular in it’s day and I don’t know why Lush disconinued this.

Initially Lush titled this a “body conditioner” in their catolog because it was different than the other shower gels. It was used somewhat differently than the shower gels, and looked different. Then later lush just decided to list it under shower gels.

I used it in the bath and i even washed my hair with it at times. Ohhh what fabulous things it did for my skin.

This smells like very strong cloves. there’s a creamy, buttery-rich bakery smell too, lightly. Skinny Dip kind of smells like an uber strong ‘Phoenix Rising/Bathos’ but with even more notes and more ingredients.

The gel needed to be shaken up though or it will seperate. When it does seperate (like oil and water) the top will be more of a off white creamy thick consistency and the bottom half a thin watery dark golden mixture as you can see in the photo i took of mine above. It’s got white chocolate bits, coconut, cocoa butter bits, almond oil, clary sage, ylang ylang, cedarwood, clove, Vetivert Oil, Palmarossa Oil and then some skin softening goodies like cocoa butter, almond oil.

I have dry skin and I love how this makes my skin so soft as well as fragrant. The scent lasts on the skin longer than most so that’s great. I also used it on my hair.

There was a learning curve to this scent for me. The first time I tried it I did’t like it. I thought it was waaay too strong and it didn’t smell like chocolate to me, which i mistakenly thought it would. Later after learning how to read the ingredients listing, I realized it was full of clove oil, cedarwood and Ylang Ylang.

i put some in a ramekin to take a pic to show you all what it looks like. Its not a very good picture, I didnt know what i was doing back then camera-wise. 😄

Here’s a demo video i made of using the Lush skinny Dip Buttercream at the sink.

Ingredients: Creamed Coconut, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Water, Glycerine, Aloe Vera Gel, Almond Oil, Cocoa Butter, Perfume, Clove Bud Oil, Cedarwood Oil, Clary Sage Oil, Ylang Ylang Oil, Vetivert Oil, Palmarossa Oil, Sodium Chloride, EDTA, Tetrasodium Editronate, *Linalool, Geraniol

Size: 7.0 oz $11.60 Skinny Dip – 3.5 oz $5.80
NOTE: This buttercream product may melt and is NOT guaranteed to arrive solid during the summer months!

Here are some photos i took of other Lush products with the same scent.

Lush 2006 description: As a shower gel Skinny Dip was one of those products which people loved or hated; now that it has metamorphosed into a Butter Cream we hope that even more people will love it (the ones who didn’t like having to shake the bottle to mix up the cocoa butter, for example). Now, Lush’s gorgeous, violet and clove scented shower extravagance comes in solid form with softening cocoa butter, soothing aloe vera and our ever popular infusion of creamed coconut. Washing your body with Skinny Dip Butter Cream feels like a soothing massage with relaxing tropical oils.

This is Skinny Dip but in buttercream form. While it doesn’t begin to have the creamy goodness and originality of it’s predecessor shower gel, Skinny Dip buttercream is a nice, medium consistency and smells of that clove and white chocolate aroma of Skinny Dip. Its not as complex of a scent as the body conditioner/shower gel. And while I give Skinny Dip buttercream three stars, It’s not the same Lush as the “Skinny Dip” original body conditioning gel, it’s just not the same.

Below is another product; the Skinny Dip body lotion. I liked it more than the buttercream but still not quite like the shower gel.

a

in my picture below is the Skinny Dip bubble bars. They were AWESOME.

There is a Skinny Dip spray perfume too.

Happy Accident

Happy Accident is an “Oops” bubble bar made in the UK in Early 2007. It has a lovely peach pink color. It smells to me like Amandopondo bubble bar as it does have a rose and citrus scent, and then mixed it with he scent of Lush ‘Happy’ bubble bar. Then again, it does smell a bit like the Lush bath bomb ‘Absolute Delight’. Not exactly positive what that lovely scent is…

Marzibain

Review: This was made to smell like “Snowcake” soap. It’s a scrumptious scent of light roses and almond paste, like Marzipan cookies. The ony things I use with a Marzibain bubble bar (so as not to sully it’s sublimlely scrummy scent) is “Snowcake” soap of course and also like to use it and then spritz on some Snowcake perfume.

Ingredients: sodium bicarbonate, cream of tartar, sodium laureth sulfate, lauryl betaine, perfume, cocamide DEA, benzoin resinoid, cassie absolute, rose absolute, whole almond.

2001 Yuletide LT description: This Marzibain is one of those Lush specials for people with a sweet tooth who don’t want to eat too much sugar; it’s a sweet “cake” of bubble bath from the bubble bar that smells just like marzipan with the added bonus fragrance of rose and fruity cassie buds (same scent as Snowcake and Big Ed). For piles of white, fluffy, marzipan scented bubbles crumble the whole thing into the running bathwater; it will satisfy your craving for sweet things with no guilt whatsoever.

From the 2002 Yuletide LT: The Marzibain is back, smelling like extra tasty marzipan, the same as last year but not as crumbly like almond icing, more solid like my grandma’s Christmas almond buns (you wuoldn’t have wanted to eat one of these either). You pronounce it to rhyme with marzipan (bain, French for bath = funny Lush pun) Marziban not Marzibane, or else it’s not funny at all is it?

Scent Family: Snowcake Perfume; Snowcake Shower Gel; Snowcake Soap; Snow On Snow Dusting Powder; Smitten Hand Cream; Oops! Almond Kisses Facial Moisturiser; Big Ed Yuletide Soap

Flying Saucers

 4 out of 5 rating

Lush made a liquid bubble bath first, then the Flying Saucers solid bubble bar, and lastly the Flying Saucers shower gel.

This has a very sweet honey smell with some ylang ylang floral.

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream Of Tartar (Tartaric Acid), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Honeycomb, Cocamide DEA, Ylang Ylang Oil (Cananga Odorata), Palmarossa Oil (Cymbopogan Martini), Vetivert Oil (Vetiveria Zizanoides), Cypress Oil (Cupressus Sempervirens), Benzoin Resinoid (Styrax Benzoin), Perfume.

Lush Times: For body and emotional soothing bath of bubbles. Feeling, low, tired, depressed, angry, tearful? Put down that sharp instrument, run yourself a hot bath with lots of Flying saucers.
Bathe, Breathe, and repeat as necessary.

Review. This was a LushUK special in 2005.

Lush had a double meaning for the name. Originally it was referring to when we have PMS and maybe our partner is pissing us off, so we throw a small plate (saucer) at them. Flying Saucer.

This smells exactly like Lush’s Flying Saucersbubble bar. It smells of herbally honey, cypress and ylang ylang. It’s very strong, and some folks don’t like the scent of the cypress in it. I love it though, I use it in the bath as well. The FS shower gel is thicker than the FS bath foam. It’s a proper shower gel consistency. The scent of this Flying Saucers shower gel stays on the skin longer than average. I give this 4 stars.

Melomint

5 out of 5 rating

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Tartaric acid, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Peppermint oil, Cocamide DEA, Flax seed oil, Cypress Oil, Perfume, Gardenia Extract, Chlorophyll, Color.

My review is from 2006, and i feel the same way about it in 2016.

Okay. I’m so amazed with Melomint bubble bar. And I’m amazed at “Summer” on the uk forum for ever having the patience with us to again and again try to get our collective together to vote for it and (thank heavens) finally having it win this time. It looks like a watermelon…in technicolor. It turns the water a beautiful light red/dark coral color. (I’m taking a pic of the water next bath). It smells like spearmint (not sweet mouthwash-y peppermint). It’s refreshing as all get out when the temperature rises in Summer. And what is up with the little watermelon seeds? Cute! I think it’s darn near perfect, bravo Lush.

It is strong enough of a mint to stand alone, and the water color is so unique for a Lush product that I wouldn’t want to change it. 😀 If you like Lush’s “Ice Hotel” bubble bar you’ll love this I think. It’s the same minty freshness just without the lavender. And the cypress really works here. It helps sort of ground it without even being noticeable. Wow.

LT description: If you like spearmint chewing gum you’ll likely have a weakness for this bubble bar. The mint, cypress and chlorophyll provides relief to tired and aching bodies at the end of a hard day, and with the look and shape of a slice of watermelon, this bubble bar is a beauty.

Phoenix

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar (Tartaric acid), Sodium LaurethSulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Perfume, Cocamide DEA, Cinnamon Leaf Oil(Cinnamomum cassia), Clove Leaf Oil (Eugenia caryophyllus), SandalwoodOil (Santalum album), Cinnamon Powder (Cinnamomum cassia), *Eugenol,*Cinnamal, *Benzyl Benzoate, *Limonene, Linalool. *Occurs naturally inessential oils. Vegan.

Lush description: When Lush first started out, it arose from the ashes, if you will, of the founders’ former company, Cosmetics to Go. We had a competition for a new name. Naturally loads of people chose Phoenix but most of them spelled it Phoenix.

at was this bar’s name for a while until Auntie Pamela just couldn’t stand it any longer and corrected it while no-one was paying attention. This Bubble Bar is helps you to arise from the ashes of your bad behaviour to return, refreshed to your normal self the next morning. Warming, reviving cinnamon and sandalwood help your brain to switch itself back on again. It smells rather like a cinnamon bun so don’t leave it in the kitchen. Now get the coffee on and have a bath. For mornings when you wish your brain had an ‘on’ switch.

Review: Ohhh…When the “Phoenix” bubble bar is dry it smells sort of like a cinnamon roll, with some cloves added. But then, in addition comes the calming scent of sandalwood (I love sandallwood). When you smoosh the Phoenix in the water, the sandalwood scent comes in behind the cinnamon/clove scent.  . What a great combination; cinnamon, clove and sandalwood. It’s a bit spicy with the cinnamon and clove, and a bit incense-y with the sandalwood. I absolutely love this bubble bar. The scent is as if Floating Island and Skinny Dip had a baby. The smell doesn’t last once in the water for more than 10 minutes. But boy what a yummy 10 minutes. I think if I had a Floating Island bath melt, the combination would be heaven. Even though the Phoenix bubble bar’s scent isn’t as strong as I’d like, I’ll still give it 4 stars because it is so different and great smelling. I would put Phoenix on my “Top Ten Lush bubble bars of all time” list.

Here’s a demo video i made of this bubble bar

Notes: I had a second Phoenix bubble bar tonight and I added a Lush Phoenix bath melt that I had saved. That’s what I call a “one timer” cocktail.

Here’s pic of the melt http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y181/lush-a-lot/lush%20products%202/LushPhoenixMeltDuck.jpg

The Phoenix bubble bar and melt were great together, the melt has almond oil in it so it was a nice combination for my skin too and the scent was just right, amped it up a bit. But try a Floating Island with the Phoenix bubble bar if it’s not as strong as you would like, the Floating Island adds some more sandalwood to the sandalwood already in Pheonix bubble bar, and the creaminess of the FI, makes the whole Phoenix cinnamon/sandalwood thing even creamier and yummier.

A Little Monkey

See my tub demo video below.

3 out of 5 rating.

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar (Tartaric acid), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Perfume, Cocamide DEA, Fresh Bananas (Musa paradisiaca), Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides), Dried Banana Slice (Musa paradisiaca).

This is a bright yellow banana scented bar. It’s moisturizing properties are welcomed by my poor dry hands, because of the fresh bananas that are in the bar. The scent doesn’t seem to be as wonderful in the water as it is in the bar. The banana scent dissipates too quick. This bar leaves a medium yellow color in the water and comes with a slice of banana on the top.
This bubble bar creates some fluffy, creamy bubbles.

Lush Times 2006 description: This bubble bar is packed with fresh organic bananas. We love to use bananas in body products because they make your skin soft so we’ve made a whole Bubble Bar Slice for our banana fans; so you can enjoy their skin softening skills at the same time as you splash about in a tub full of banana scented bubbles. We guess that A Little Monkey bath will go down a storm with right little monkeys as they get ready for bedtime, but we will also allow grown-ups to use it.(If you like Sympathy for the Skin and Banana Moon, then you are going to be in fruit heaven when you add A Little Monkey to your Lush fruit bowl.

Scent Family: Banana Moon Soap; Big Banana Moon Soap; Gumback Express Smoothie; Gumbo Express Smoothie.

Here’s a video demo i made of this in the bath

a Little Monkey has the same scent as Lush’s “Banana Moon” soap which was popular for so many years. And the same scent as ‘Gumback Smoothie’. My kids loved this bar.

Rose Jam Bubbleroon (Reworked)

5 out of 5 rating

This is such a special bubble bar for many reasons. The look, the scent, the design. If you like the rose jam scent, which is a beautiful sweet rose, you would love this bubble bar.

Pink, flower shaped, sparkly..whats not to love?

See below for my Tub demo Video of this bubble bar

Below are the most current designs of the 3 different designs in 2021

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Lauryl Betaine, Fair Trade Shea Butter, Perfume, Rose Absolute,Geranium Oil, Rose Oil, Lemon Oil, Cocamide DEA, PEG-6 Caprylic / Capric Glycerides, Titanium Dioxide, Colour 17200

Lush Times: A bath that helps you get out of it feeling better than when you got in. With lemon to bring clarity and alertness and rose to lift the spirits. The geranium oil in here will balance the skin, whilst the coconut oil and shea butter will leave you feeling smooth and soft. This smells of roses, with the sweetness of jam – it shares the same fragrance as Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner.

The fragrance in Rose Jam was invented by Simon. Every year he visits Turkey during the rose harvest to see our rose absolute being produced. He talks about the smell of roses in the fields in the hot Turkish sun and the lunchtimes sat out eating rose jam with Hassan, our rose grower. The rest of us here at Lush think he’s jammy to have this aspect of the job – and we notice that it is always tales he brings back to us, not pots of the actual jam!
Here’s a demo video i made of the Lush Rose bubbleroon in the tub.

Below is the design from 2014-2019

Lush Times 2019

Stop and smell the roses

Shed your thorns and come up smelling of roses with Rose Jam bubble bar. Heady scents of rose and geranium provide serious flower power, while cleansing lemon oil brightens the mind. Sweet and floral, just like you.

You’ll love this if you like:

– Candied floral scents that pack a punch

– Rose Jam shower gel, Rose Jam body spray or Jason And The Argan Oil shampoo – Hot pink baths (Wednesdays optional)

My scent family photo, there has been a couple of things created by lush which were made after this photo was taken.

Benefits of Rose Jam Bubbleroon

– Rose absolute soothes and tones.

– Shea and Fair Trade organic cocoa butters soften grumpy skin. – Invigorating lemon and geranium oils boosts moods

How to use: Twist it and split it in half for two sweet and rosy baths, or crumble the whole thing for a truly luxurious soak. Go on, you deserve a treat.

How to store: Keep in a cool, dry place until you’re ready to use.

Below is what Rose Jam bubbleroon originally looked like when it came out in the mid 2000’s before they redesigned it.

I love the look of this bubble bar.

I’m being picky, thats the only reason i didn’t rate it an 5. I wish it was a tad sweeter. Anything from 4-5 means i would buy nore than one.

Another scent family photo

Lush told me This has the same scent as the Lush Easter soap “Egg Hunt“, and the Lush bath oil ‘Razzle Dazzle‘, and

Lush Times: If you’re wondering what kind of creature a Mumkin is then it’s no use asking us, because we don’t know either! All you need to know is that she’s cute, very friendly and loves to be crumbled under the tap to bring you mountains of fruity bubbles. The Mumkin smells of sweet raspberries and colours the bath water a pretty shade of pink.

Mumkin, mumkin in love, pumkin. The light pink and lavender colored ‘Mumkin in Love’ or ‘Kisskin’ is rare, originally made only in Japan for their White Day. Later Lush Uk made this for one day only.

Its a somewhat raspberry-ish scent. Its not sweet. Its one of the cutest bubble bars. It makes beautiful water, as you can see in my tub demo below.

Madame Butterfly

5 out of 5 rating

This one in my picture below is from when it was remade in the lush kitchen. It was originally a limited edition product. Not a year long in store product.

The original limited edition one with the seeds, ribbon, wrapping, etc.

This bubble bar has the rose jam scent.

Ingredients: Sodium Carbonate,Cream of Tartar, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Glycerine,Lauryl Betaine, Perfume,Rose Petal Powder, Rose Absolute, Geranium Oil,Rose Oil, Lemon Oil,Colour 17200, Colour 14700, Colour 45410

*occurs naturally in essential oils

Lush Times: Madame Butterfly has the same gorgeous scent as the Rose Jam Bubbleroon – a sophisticated Turkish delight fragrance of rose and lemon. Rose absolute and oil to help improve skin’s appearance and to perfume skin and hair and of course to make the most of its aphrodisiac effect. Geranium oil has a sweet, beautifully floral and slightly sharp fragrance. It is thought to have a balancing effect on the nervous system, oil production and circulation. Finally, zesty lemon; toning and brightening on the skin, uplifting and makes a zesty top note in our fragrances.

Here’s a video demo and review that i made for you showing this bubble bar and what the water looks like.

Following the wonderful popularity of Magic Wand for Christmas, we’ve got three more just for Mother’s Day. They make wonderful gifts for your dear old ma; she can get at least 6 baths out of each wand! Tell her to put her feet up while you run her a nice warm bath, swish her chosen bubble bar around in the water, then tell her to enjoy a nice long soak while you do the washing up. Super!

Simply turn on your bath taps and swish it around in the water for a few seconds – or until you’ve got enough bubbles in your tub. Then pop it on the side to use another time – these look particularly nice in a vase on the side. It goes rock hard until you’re ready to use it again – how many baths will you get out of it? Here’s the important part – before you get in, make sure you have a watering can or jug to hand. Then once you’ve finished wallowing in the lovely waters, you can dip your jug into the bath, scoop up some of that nutrient filled water and water all your plants around the house and garden (just remember to put a dressing gown on first if you go outside!)

Madame Butterfly comes with a name tag that’s rather special – it’s got seeds embedded in the paper! Just dig a little hole in your garden or in a soil-filled pot and pop the tag in whole. Give it a drink of water and sit back and let nature take its course. You’ll be rewarded with some lovely wild flowers to bring a little colour to your garden this summer.

Wonder Woohoo

This beautiful bubble bar has the scent of Lush ‘Sun’ perfume, as well as “sun’ bath oil at Oxford Street store.

For wonder mamas everywhere!
This sparkling tiara crumbles up under running water for a golden, bubbling bath. You may recognize the fresh, uplifting Brazilian orange and sandalwood oil scent from our best-selling Gorilla Perfume, The Sun. This bar was created for Mum to channel her inner super heroine, and is not only covered in sparkles but includes a gold glimmer luster throughout the bubble bar mix, creating a swirling, luminous effect in the water. Has a nice fruity scent. Orange-y.

This new for Father’s Day 2016, 2017, and 2018. This is the first bubble bar that Lush has ever made for Father’s Day.  Modfather has an orange scent. Like a free peeled orange. No glitter, but gorgeous azure colored water. It’s a regular sized 100g bar. It made LOADS of bubbles as you can see.

See my demo video below

The Down the Rabbit Hole bubble bar came out for Easter 2016. When i got it, It was only sold at the Lush Oxford Street superstore in London. A lovely friend got it for me along with other things at that store and sent it to me in the mail to the U.S. A couple of years later Lush made them in the Lush Kitchen online store for one day only.

I loved this bubble bar! Its beautiful and it smells great!

Easter 2016

The Down ‘The Rabbit Hole’ bubble bar has the same scent as the Lush “Layer Cake’ soap.  Fruity with different fruits, lemon, cherry, pineapple, orange.

Heres a Lush bath ‘cocktail’ i had once had, with a yellow submarine pineapple and coconut bath bomb, and an orange lush bath oil. The went well with the lemon, cherry and orange Down the Rabbit Hole bubble bar.

In this photo i cut a cross section to see the layers

Ladybird bubble bar

Strawberry bubble bug

Ladybirds are a sign of good luck, and this one is sure to grant your wishes for sublimely scented suds. You’ll go dotty for the sweet, strawberry notes, nestled in a bed of mint and geranium – fresh and fruity fragrance with a cool edge. Deeply shimmering purple waters and mounds of bubbles will leave you feeling as snug as a bug in a rug.

You’ll love this if you like:

– Sweet, fruity and crisp scents with a herbal complexity.

– Strawberries and Cream bath bomb or Scrub Scrub Scrub body scrub. – Popping bubbles and feeling lucky.

Benefits:

– Sourced in India, peppermint oil helps to to uplift your mood, stimulate your skin and bring a cool note to the fragrance.

– Geranium oil gives a sweetly herbal and floral edge, adding depth and balancing your mood.

How to use: Crumble your Ladybird under running water and swoosh around for a heap of softening bubbles. Ah, it’s a bug’s life.

How to store: We don’t want to bug you, but make sure you keep this product somewhere cool and dry until you’re ready to use it.

this is made with geranium and mint. it makes outrageously gorgeous colored water. Either red or purple water depending on what pieces you use.

It’s so cute just like a lady bug, or ladybird as they’re called in England.

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar (Tartaric acid), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Cocamide DEA, Ylang Ylang Oil (Cananga odorata), Cardamom Oil (Elettaria cardamomum), Lavender Oil (Lavendula hybrida), Fennel Oil (Foeniculum vulgare), Perfume, Colour 59040.

Review: Lush made this for kids, to help calm them before bedtime. It’s a nuclear yellow green bar that makes nuclear yellow green water. Strong lovely lavender smell. This is fun and useful if you need bubbles that have lavender in them. We have French Kiss now but kids loved these, I guess it just wasn’t enough kids so they discontinued this one too. It was good for adults too I thought. Alo tof people didn’t like the color or they didn’t like the color on the tub afterwards or something. I never had a problem with it. I liked it.
Lush Times Spring 2004 description: A bright, BRIGHT bath for the over-energetic over-sevens to quieten them down for bedtime. Play Doze works in many ways. It is a shockingly bright, fluorescent yellow in colour; this is our secret plan to make children want to have it in their baths. In it, we mix up an effective blend of extremely calming essential oils – lots of lavender and ylang, waming cardamon and fennel to clear their busy heads – so that they will quieten down ready for bedtime. One for the kids and the over-grown kids that live inside all of us, Play Doze is a bright Fluorescent yellow Bubble Bar slice designed to clean and calm in equal measures. With lavender and ylang ylang to send your kids to sleep. (Recommended for over 7s). The bath water turns into such an amazing colour, you and your offspring will want to stay in the bath longer and get really clean, without any nagging from you. Tired grown-ups will find that it is superbly relaxing and a great way to get a good nights kip too.
