Happy soap

Ingredients: Sweet Orange Oil , Tangerine Oil ,   Propylene Glycol, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Stearate, Perfume, Glycerine, Sodium Chloride, EDTA, Tetrasodium Editronate, *Limonene, Hydroxycitronellol, FD&C Yellow No. 5, Gardenia Extract , D&C Red No. 27, D&C Red No. 33, FD&C Red No. 4, FD&C Blue No. 1,

Review: Happy soap is a lovely yellow and green soap with happy faces on the top of the big slab. It’s a medium-strong orangey scent. Orange and tangerine being very uplifting.

Notes: This goes well with the following orangey lush products: “Happy pill” ballistic, and Karma scented item, “You’ve Been Mangoed” bath melt, “The Olive Branch” shower gel, “Each Peach” massage bar, and Therapy massage bar.

Lush Times 2006 description: Happy Soap is a translucent orange soap decorated with smileys. Happy soap is toning for your skin and cheering for your mind. When your happy friends are around let them use it too. The world can do with a good dose of happiness.

Bertie

This is a remake of one of my favorite soaps from the past.  I love licorice, and Bertie soap has a licorice smell i can’t resist.  Lush Christmas bubble bar called “Bar Humbug” was made with the same scent as “Bertie” soap.

Here’s a photo of what the giant in-store Bertie soap looks like.

By the way, Lush has made “Bertie” previously, many years ago, though the soap was red, yellow and black back then.

Here’s  my review of it back in 2004

Ingredients: Propylene Glycol, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Water (Aqua), Liquorice Root Infusion (Glycyrrhiza glabra), Sodium Stearate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Perfume, Sweet Fennel Oil (Foeniculum vulgare), Tarragon Oil (Artemisia dracunculus), Siberian Pine Oil (Pinus), Charcoal Powder, Sodium Chloride, Glycerine, Titanium Dioxide, Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides), Colour 18050. Vegan.

Review: If you like Licorice candy this is for you. It smells exactly like licorice candy. This is toning to the skin because of the liquorice root infusion. And the fennel goes well with the liquoirce root. This soap is a glycerine soap but for a glycerine soap is does have some nice, creamy lather.

Lush Times 2004 description: This isn’t really a soap, more like an ‘installation’. Mo wanted to make something which represented the event garde of the artistic soap-making world. We thought of calling it the Picassoap but then we thought of the potential law suits and decided again. Instead we named it after Mark’s and Mo’s son who invented its perfume. They call him Bertie (after Wooster) because of his penchant for wearing silk dressing gowns. Bertois smells of detoxifying fennel – jolly handy after a night on the tiles, pine wihcdh helps to improve poor concentration, tarragon which banishes apathy and boredom and liquorice which is said to help us resist exhaustian. If you were looking for a gentleman’s soap, you find that Bertie would very much suit the elegant chap around town.

Here are a few pieces of the new Bertie soap i have from Oxford Street.

Sticky Banana soap

 See my demo video below.

This was a nice moisturizing soap from Lush Oxford Street store. It was made with banana, and it smelled like a fresh banana. It had places inside that had what seemed like honey.

The one below that is the yellow one in front that’s six sided? That’s the piece of Sticky Banana that i got from this gift set at Oxford Street.

It was wildly popular the first year that that store was open.

Here’s a demo video i made of it for you.

lush made a sticky banana body wash ten years later which has the same scent, it’s really good.

Green and Gold

I was lucky enough to have a kind person buy one for me while she was there so I could pay her back and she sent it to me, along with a couple of other Lush soaps from Oxford Street. I have a sink demo video of Green and Gold soap below.

4 out of 5 rating.   See my demo and review video of this soap below.

This smells just like the Avobath bath bomb or even the you’ve been mangoed bath oil. It has lemongrass and it smells so wonderful.

The Green and Gold soap display in the Lush Oxford Street superstore

Green and Gold was only sold at the Lush Oxford Street superstore from 2014-2017

It was a beautiful soap with green around the outside and strips of gold too. Inside the soap was a yellowish gold color. In the stores the whole soap were long cylindrical poles, so Lush would cut customers a 100g piece off of the giant long piece. Unless you wanted to buy the whole soap.

Here’s a video demo i did of this soap

Cream of Tomato Soap

In the photo above you can see that the large, whole truckles of soap are somewhat cylindrical. And Lush would cut a chunk however big or small you wanted.

Tomatoes are full of antioxidants including vitamin C. This property of tomatoes makes them a great fruit for anti-ageing. The acidity in tomatoes helps in reducing and clearing your acne.

In my photo below are three lush soaps clockwise from the left: ‘Zen’ soap, ‘Cream of Tomato’ soap, and ‘Green and Gold’ soap.

This was actually nice smelling and it did smell like tomatoes. I never thought tomatoes smell good but..

In my photo below the cream of tomato is on the upper right next to the box.

It’s a natural scent, not too strong. It was kind of creamy and seemed to be a tiny bit more moisturizing than other Lush soaps.

In my photo below it’s in the lower right.

Here’s a video demo i made of this soap

Reindeer Rock

This is what the large in-store soap wheel looks like.

Ingredients: Cassis Absolute (Ribes nigrum), Bergamot Oil (Citrus bergamia), Cassis Absolute (Ribes nigrum), Cypress Oil (Cupressus sempervirens), Perfume,  *Limonene, *Linalool, Colour 45410, Colour 17200.* Occurs naturally in essential oils.

4 out of 5 rating.

This a lovely currant (cassis) scented, limited edition Christmas soap is made with the same scent as Lush “Comforter”.

Having silver reindeer carved into this maroon colored soap.

However, Christmas 2016 brings  a new color to this popular Christmas soap.

It’s not particularly moisturizing, but if you like the berryish scent of the Comforter scent this is a great way to enjoy that fragrance.

This is what it looks like sold by the 100g slice.

Baked Alaska

5 out of 5 rating

This is the slice i bought in 2022. It’s so grapefruit, lemon myrtle, and floral ylang ylang.

This is a very popular soap year after year.

It’s always one of the most colorful things in my box when i buy the Christmas products online.

This the original Baked Alaska that Lush sold on christmas for years.

This is the new design of the Baked Alaska soap on 2020.

Lush Cosmetics ‘Baked Alaska’ Christmas soap is a large, globe looking soap with a white coating.  It’s named after the dessert called “Baked Alaska” which consists of ice cream and cake topped with browned meringue.

This below is what an in-store, whole wheel of soap pre 2020 looked like before it was cut into pieces.

It’s quite a contrast to the colors that await inside the Baked Alaska soap when Lush cuts it open…

Lush: “A real Christmas treat with a hidden surprise inside! The Baked Alaska soap has unique shape, which appears as a snowball and inside you will find small snowballs smelling of fresh and uplifting Organic Lemon Myrtle, stress relieving Ylang Ylang Oil and Grapefruit, which is refreshing and toning for the skin. This soap has a powerfully citrus scent.”

Quantitative Ingredients

We buy our ingredients from suppliers who do not test on animals

The Ingredients are Water, Glycerine, Rapeseed Oil, Coconut oil, Sorbitol, Perfume, Organic Lemon Myrtle Oil, Ylang Ylang, Grapefruit Oil.

The grapefruit is what i smell primarily.  It’s a bold grapefruit scent which i like.

If you’re a citrus fan, there is nothing but goodness in this soap; the vivid, day-glo colors and the strong scent of grapefruit.

In February 2025 Lush made a solid perfume exclusive to that month’s subscription box

Mermaid bath bomb has the baked alaska

Mermaid’s Tale bubble bar has the baked alaska scent.

Matroyshka Doll

Has the Appley ‘So White’ scent.  This was a soap that Lush sold in Christmas of 2010.

There are two pieces (one green and a smaller red ) soaps,  a doll-shaped ‘Cinders‘ bath bomb, and a doll-shaped, and a So White bath bomb.  all nested inside of each other, like a real Russian Matroyshka Doll. And the whole gift set was wrapped in a red scarf with designs on it.

Later Lush would make other products with this same scent;  So White bath bomb, So White perfume, So White shower gel, and Santa’s Belly jelly.

Yog Nog soap

Video review (60 seconds) below Quantitative Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Glycerine, Rapeseed Oil and Coconut Oil, Sorbitol, Soya yoghurt, Perfume, Clove Bud Oil, Ylang Ylang Oil, Gardenia Extract, Titanium Dioxide, Sodium Chloride, EDTA, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Sodium Hydroxide, Eugenol, Linalool, Cocoa Powder, Nutmeg powder.

Such a yummy scent
I don’t know if this necessarily smells like Egg Nog, but it is yummy. The smell reminds me of Creme Brulee. That kind of carmalised sugar smell. It’s not drying, nor is it moisturizing, it’s somewhere in the middle. I like to use this soap in a bath with Yog Nog Fun bar for bubbles, and a Butterball bath bomb. Scrumptious!

Waylander Rhassoul

Ingredients: Rhassoul Mud Slurry , Rapeseed oil; Sunflower oil; Coconut oil , Pumice Powder , Water (Aqua) , Kaolin , Perfume , Patchouli Oil , Vetivert Oil.

Lush Description: Waylander Rhassoul is a soap for preparing bodies for adventure, especially if theyve not seen daylight for a while. What they need is a lovely, clay based soap made with Rhassoul Mud from the Atlas Mountains, a traditional Moroccan skin and scalp treatment which works marvels on troubled skin – perfumed with earthy patchouli oil, with pumice powder mixed in so when the Rhassoul mud washes away the dirt youre left with a hard, rocky centre of ground pumice to scrub away rough skin. Use it on feet, hands, elbows and knees (especially before using fake tan). At this point you start up a new, soft, creamy, muddy bar and youll find that your skin has already transformed itself magically from dull to bright.

Review: This soap is the epitome of an ‘Earthy’ smell.  Rasshoul smells of rich earth. Men would love this. And I love it. It’s a comforting and grounding scent.

This soap used to be called ‘Middle Earth Turns to Rock’.  But they changed the name in 2008 after one of my fellow forum members held in high esteem, Simon, ‘Waylander’ was his forum name.  He made his own armor.

Earth and Patchouli is exactly what this smells like. It’s gritty from the pumice bits so it’s good for exfoliating. This is also a good male scent. I have a love/hate relationship with Middle Earth, sometimes I gotta have it and sometimes not, but I gotta give it props for doing what it says and for being interesting to look at and it was rabidly popular in it’s day.

Lush Times 2005 description: At first waylander soap has the texture of smooth mud pies, the kind you made at the with your bucket and spade as a kid; the kaolin and rhassoul mud make it a wonderful, deep cleansing scrub, excellent for getting out engine oil, garden earth and paint. As you use it up you are left with more of the pumice powder and magically it turns into a bar of Rock soap; use Rock for scrubbing and smoothing your feet, elbows and really rough bits. Waylander has an earthy, spicy scent of an Arabian soukh; take advantage of its eastern magic to get your hands and feet their cleanest ever.

Beautiful Pea Green

Lush Spring 1999 UK description: Beautiful P Green Soap is very, very green – coloured with spinach and chlorophyll – made in a big block which looks rather like a deep, translucent freshwater pond with flowers and leaves floating on top. Fortunately, it doesn’t smell like one. However, it does have a deep, dark green scent [for those of you who smell in colour] with sandalwood, benzoin and a hint of tangerine, providing the delicious odour. Continuing the poetry theme, this one was inspired by The Owl and the Pussycat who, you may remember, went to sea in a beautiful pea green boat. (You get a slice off the 25 kilogram pond, not the whole thing, so you may get a slice of waxed flower or leaf.

(Dark leafy greens, light fruity note and slightly incensey)

VEGAN: Yes

Ingredients: vegetable soap, propylene glycol, water, perfume, sodium lauryl sulphate, sodium stearate, fresh spinach, sandalwood oil, tangerine oil, gardenia extract, chlorophyll, chrysanthemum flowers, labdanum.

Respect Your Elders

See my short video below, berries!

I love this soap, it smells like elderberries more than elderflower.  It has a black coating and the interior soap color is a gorgeous purple! This soap is right up my alley.

LushRespectyourelders2

For Christmas 2016 Lush made three Fun bars. ONE OF THEM CALLED snakes and Ladders had rhe same scent as Lush ‘Respect Your Elders’ soap.

Maypole soap

This soap is one of my favorites, because of the way it looks and smells.

I like the play on the words Maypole and Maple.

I love the whimsical look of this soap most of all!

The Maple syrup in Maypole goes perfectly with the mint.   The scent is fun, and uplifting.

Below is how the soap in the stores looked.

I cut this cylindrical piece into halves. So it looks like there is a piece of watermelon in my soap dish.  🙂

It’s not a strong maple smell, it just makes the mint subley sweeter which is nice. To me it smells more minty than mapley.

lush has made a Maypole Body Lotion also as an exclusive limited edition for July 24. you can see it in the photo i took below. Its so good and smells just like the soap.

See what this looks like up close and what the lush catalog says about it in my 3 minute video here

I was told that Another product with this scent is the Lush Christmas ‘Salt and Peppermint bark’ body scrub.

Lush ‘Hey Hollywood’ bath bomb has the same scent.

Lavender La Vida Loca (formerly ‘Serendipity’)

Original 5 out of 5

Recent 3.5 out of 5 rating

Here’s the rectangular shape they are now, from the Lush (USA) Kitchen January 2026 Subscription box. Not quite as colorful and not quite as strongly scented.

on its side

This is the most current Lavender La Vida Loca soap which was made and included in the January 2026 Lush Kitchen Subscription box. The theme was ‘Dreamland’.

Its looks different than the original (UK) Lavender La Vida Loca/Serendipity soap. Its rectangular. It doesn’t smell quite as strong as the pieces i’ve had before. It’s hard to smell anything from it.

French Lavender and Chamomile

‘Don’t leave sweet dreams to chance. Try this skin soothing lavender and chamomile lullaby.’

Here’s the lovely piece i got.  It doesn’t have the sweet tonka note as Twilight.  It’s more of a true lavender scent, matching the “Golden Slumbers’ bath bomb.

This soap is made into a long pole shape.  And then Lush slices pieces off cross-wise.  Pretty pink purple outter and lavender purple inside. Even though it’s glycerine based, It’s a creamy soap.

Ingredients:  Glycerine, rapeseed oil, lavender flower infusion, french lavender oil, water, dried lavender stem, chamomile blue oil, lavender absolute.

A “Golden Slumbers’ bath bomb would go well with this as both are lavender scented.   “dreamtime” bath oil would go well with this also.

Mechanic soap

3 out of 5 rating

An exfoliating Pumice soap to remove ingrained dirt.

Cold-pressed means no heat was used to bind the fresh ingredients together.

The lack of heat helps the oils retain all of their fragrance and fresh nutrients.

Old Father Time soap

See my video demo below

This   soap has thyme, sage and currants, and the fragrance is new, having myrrh, rosewood and opopomax.  Tangy, fruity, herbal, earthy… I can’ stop sniffing this soap.  The myrrh and the rosewood combo is calming to me.  There’s a tiniest iota of sweetness from the myrrh, just enough to make it intriguing. Old school Lushies may like the earthy, blending of resinous, herbal, floral notes. I think of this as having a gender-neutral scent,

Lush description: It’s the time of the year for lathering earthy and herbal fresh sage and thyme infusion with festive, juicy redcurrants over skin. This mystical soap with precious myrrh resinoid is sure to set the cogs in motion to take you from Christmas into the new year in style.

Devil’s Nightcap

3 out of 5 rating

if youve ever tried the Black Phoenix perfume called ‘Graveyard Dirt’ that is close to what Devils Nightcap smells like.

The same fragrance as one of my favorite Lush perfumes “Devil’s Nightcap”.

oakmoss, ylang ylang, clary sage, oakwood.

Firstly, I love the clay consistency in this soap, it reminds me of the classic lush soap called “Middle Earth turns to rock’ (changed to Waylander rasshoul), except Devil’s Nightcap is more perfume-y with the ylang ylang

Having the scent of Lush “Devil’s Nightcap’ perfume, The clary sage gives a bitter note that works really well with the earthy, woodylushDevil'sNightcapWiki and perfumey floral notes.  I think this soap has a love it or hate it scent.  I’ve read people who LOVE this and people who Hate this, there doesn’t seem to be a middle ground.  I love it, it evokes an earthy, almost brooding, darkly feminine scent.

This soap was made in 2014, along with other soaps, for the grand opening of the first Lush Oxford Street Superstore.

It’s cool looking with the oakmoss hanging all over the soap.  They say you can use the oakmoss as an exfoliant, however i pick it off before i use it.

Its scent stays on the skin for hours.

Lush description:  Sympathy for the Devil

Scrub your sins away with this raw and earthy oakmoss and oakwood soap.

Pumpkin soap

Lush Time Xmas 2008: You’ll want a whole one, but be warned; it’s even heavier than a real pumpkin and it’s not hollow inside. Probably best to get yourself a manageable slice or two. Mo’s new soap is a lovely creamy pumpkin coloured affair with a scent that she borrowed from the gorgeous Almond Buttercream: sweet wild orange, lime, mandarin and spice cinnamon. (If you’re northern, like Emma from training and Auntie Pamela, and could only have a turnip for Halloween when you were little, this more than makes up for the childhood deprivation.) It’s only around for Halloween so get yours before All Hallows Day.

Here’s a picture of my Pumpkin soap back then. It’s a 100g piece that Lush were selling via the website.   The big slab of soap that they sold in the store that Halloween looked like the below photo.  I LOVE these soaps, the smell is great.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Glycerine, Rapeseed Oil; Sunflower Oil; Coconut Oil (Brassica napus; Helianthus annuus; Cocos nucifera), Fresh Organic Orange Juice (Citrus Aurantium dulcis), Pumpkin puree (Cucurbita pepo), Sodium Hydroxide, Perfume, Sweet Orange Oil (Citrus Aurantium dulcis), Mandarin Oil (Citrus nobilis), Lime Oil (Citrus aurantifolia), Cinnamon Leaf Oil (Cinnamomum cassia), *Eugenol, *Limonene, Titanium Dioxide, Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides), Colour 45350, Colour 15510, Pumpkin Seeds (Cucurbita pepo)
